Where to Shoot...
One of the things I love most about being a lifestyle photographer is finding cool locations to shoot your images.
Sure, we could just go to the local park... but if you're up for it, I'd love to get a little more creative.
How about a corn field at sunset? Or maybe a cool coffee shop?
What about the top level of a parking garage in Downtown Phoenix with the sun coming up in the background? The world is our stage... let's go use it!
If you have a specific location in mind, please let me know. If you have no idea... that's what photogs are for! I'm happy to suggest some options. It is important to tell you... that some locations do charge a "shoot fee." The fee can range anywhere from $25 per hour to about $150 per session. Unless otherwise agreed upon you are responsible for the location "shoot fee" if you specifically request a location that charges a fee. You will pay the location "shoot fee" directly to the location.
If the location choice is up to me, I will choose a location that does not charge a fee or I will be responsible for paying the fee.
You are more than welcome to bring multiple outfits for your shoot. Keep in mind that there may not be restrooms or other locations accessible for you to change in. Please also note that the length of a typical portrait session is one-hour in length. This includes any time that you take to change clothes or that is used to change locations.
Feel free to bring props to your shoot. Check out the f.a.q.s page for more details. Please be sure to let me know if you plan to bring large props or if you are interested in having a "styled" shoot.
What to Bring...
There are two times of day that are best for shooting... early morning and evening.
If shooting in the morning or late afternoon/evening is not a possibility for you, please let me know.
We can discuss your needs and find a way to make your mid-day shoot happen... but trust me, you'll really like the results of an evening or morning shoot.
When to Shoot...
What to Wear...
Well that really depends on YOU! But here are a few things that might be helpful:
When we shoot I want you to feel like a million bucks inside and out.
Wear clothes you feel great in. Clothes that reflect your true style. If you're a sparkly girl with a love for shiny things... wear a sequined dress and rock it! If you love soft, romantic, flowing dresses... own it! If jeans and a tank top is your uniform, show it off! Want to try a couple of different looks? Pack your bag baby... 'cuz I don't mind wardrobe changes. Do keep in mind that there may not be suitable spots for changing your wardrobe during our shoot.
Rules for the Road...
There are NONE! But here are a few things you might not have thought of... Bright colors give your photos a happy, fresh feeling. Try to stay away from clothes that have text or logos on them... the pictures can end up looking like an ad for a clothing retailer. Solid colors are usually best... patterns are cool if they aren't too big and overwhelming. You want clothes that you wear... not that wear you. That being said, if you've got an amazing dress or your sweetie own's a stylin' shirt with a huge print on it... if you love it, wear it!
Razzle Dazzle...
It also doesn't hurt to put a little extra time into your hair and makeup prep the day of your shoot. In fact, you might even want to consider getting your hair and makeup done. You still want to look like you, but it's always fun to look like the superstar version of you. Ever wonder why brides seem to glow on their wedding day? Partly it's because of the excitement and partly it's because they've put extra time and attention into getting ready.
The most important advice... remember to be YOU. Check out this blog post to find out what happened when I decided to go outside of my "zone" for a photoshoot.
